The Avoca Group is leading the Life Sciences industry to get medicines to patients faster. Through our Consulting & Research services and the Avoca Quality Consortium (AQC), we provide innovative solutions to improve quality and compliance in clinical research.  

Position Summary: The Avoca Group is currently seeking a candidate to fill a leadership role in Client Development. The VP will need to utilize strong relationship management skills to attract new accounts and expand positions within existing accounts across all Avoca business lines including AQC and AIA membership, Consulting & Research services, and other product offerings. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of drug development, specifically clinical trials, and the ability and confidence to interact at the senior executive (e.g. VP to C-Suite) level. Candidates should possess a strong entrepreneurial nature and innate resourcefulness to target and engage clients individually and with their team. The ideal candidate will proactively seek to understand the needs of prospective clients to in order to provide them with the optimal mix of services to enable their success.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the sales and marketing team in driving new business by producing high quality meetings with qualified prospects
  • Develop proposals, lead presentations, negotiate and close prospective clients in conjunction with Sales team and Client Delivery
  • Collaborate internally to develop new services based on discovered market opportunities
  • Build strong relationships with existing Avoca clients
  • Establish a reputation as a thought leader and increase recognition of Avoca within the industry
  • Function in an executive role as an ALT (Avoca Leadership Team) member

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:

  • Have a personal network in the pharmaceutical and CRO industry
  • Possess excellent decision making/problem solving skills with a proven track record
  • Embrace teamwork, establishing effective working relationships and building trust with customers and stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Understand current and future industry trends that could impact the company
  • Have a strong presence with outstanding written and oral communication skills, including presentation to large audiences
  • Strong persuasive and negotiation skills including the ability to effectively communicate, inspire and operationalize new ideas with clients
  • Work independently and collaborate with a team in a virtual environment
  • Have a minimum of 7+ years’ experience working in a consultative selling role or selling B2B services, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Hold a minimum of a BA/BS in a scientific or business discipline
